SSC CGL Exam Pattern
The SSC CGL Exam is conducted in Following Four Tier, TIER-I, TIER-II,TIER-III,TIER-IV. Tier-I is Compulsory for All SSC-CGL Posts While candidates has to appear for other TIERs of examination i.e. TIER-2,Tier-3,Tier-4 depending upon the post applied for.
TIER-I | Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type) (Online Multiple choice questions) | Single Paper of Total 1 hour duration ( 100 Questions / 100 Marks ) having following Four Parts: Part-A General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 questions / 50 Marks) Part-B General Awareness (25 questions / 50 Marks) Part-C Numerical/Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions / 50 Marks) Part-D English Comprehension (25 questions / 50 Marks) Total Marks: 200 Total Questions: 100 Negative Marking: 0.5 for each wrong answer |

Important Points about SSC-CGL TIER-I Exam
Combined Graduate level TIER-I Examination would be common for all categories of posts and will be held in one session. If and wherever necessary, the examination may be held in 2(two) or more shifts and days for different batches of candidates.
Shift:1 Paper 10.00 A.M. to 12.00 Noon in Hindi / English Medium
Shirt: 2 Paper 2.00 P.M. to 4.00 P.M. in Hindi / English Medium
Tier-I exam is used to screen the candidates for appearing in Tier-II for various papers which will be specifically required for different groups of posts. However the marks of such screened candidates in Tier-I will be taken into account for final ranking of candidates for selecting them for the interview and also final selection.
Important Points about SSC-CGL TIER-II Exam
It will consist of three different papers / subjects and depending upon the category of posts applied for, the candidate will be required to appear in one, two or three papers, as the case may be.
Important Points about SSC-CGL TIER-III Exam
Personality Test /Interview or Skill Test, where applicable Candidates opting for post of Sub-Inspector in CPOs will be required to undergo Physical Endurance Test (PET)/Medical Examination at any convenient time after declaration of result of Tier I.
Important Points about SSC-CGL TIER-IV Exam
SSC CGL Tier-IV is Data Entry Skill Test. It is used to assess typing speed of the candidate who qualify in Stage- 1, 2, and 3.
DEST Exam through SSC CGL 2022 exam is conducted to check the typing speed of the candidate. For the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax), The candidates are given an article in English which they have to type on Computer. A candidate is required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes.
CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): Word Processing, Spread Sheets and Generation of slides are the three modules that are important for this exam and the commission demands a candidate to be proficient in it for the post of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner).

It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. This component may include questions on Analogies, Similarities and differences, Spatial visualization, Spatial orientation, Problem solving, Analysis, Judgement, Decision making, Visual memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship concepts, Arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, Arithmetic number series, Non-verbal series, Coding and decoding, Statement conclusion, Syllogistic reasoning etc. |
SSC CGL Tier-1 Part-B General Awareness Syllabus
Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to : Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline. |
SSC CGL Tier-1 Part-C Quantitative Aptitude Syllabus
The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be the computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions and relationships between numbers. It will test sense of order among numbers, ability to translate from one name to another, sense or order of magnitude, estimation or prediction of the outcome of computation, selection of an appropriate operation for the solution of real life problems and knowledge of alternative computation procedures to find answers. The questions would also be based on arithmetical concepts and relationship between numbers and not on complicated arithmetical computation (The standard of the questions will be of 10+2 level).
