SSC CHSL Exam Pattern
The SSC CHSL Exam is conducted in Following three Tier, TIER-I, TIER-II,TIER-III. Tier-I is Compulsory for All SSC-CHSL Posts While candidates has to appear for other TIERs of examination i.e. TIER-2,Tier-3, depending upon the post applied for.
TIER-I | Computer Based Examination (Online Multiple choice questions) | Single Paper of Total 1 hour duration ( 100 Questions / 100 Marks ) having following Four Parts: Part-1 English Language (Basic Knowledge) (50 Marks) Part-2 General Intelligence (50 Marks) Part-3 Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill) (50 Marks) Part-4 General Awareness (50 Marks) Total Marks: 200 Time duration: 1hour Total Questions:100 Negative Marking: 0.5 for each wrong answer |

Important Points about SSC-CHSL TIER-I Exam
Combined Graduate level TIER-I Examination would be common for all categories of posts and will be held in one session. If and wherever necessary, the examination may be held in 2(two) or more shifts and days for different batches of candidates.
Tier-I exam is used to screen the candidates for appearing in Tier-II for various papers which will be specifically required for different groups of posts. However the marks of such screened candidates in Tier-I will be taken into account for final ranking of candidates for selecting them for the interview and also final selection.
Important Points about SSC-CHSL TIER-II Exam
This is descriptive Exam. Minimum Qualifying Marks in this exam is 33%. Marks of this exam will be calculated in
preparing the final list of qualified students.
Important Points about SSC-CHSL TIER-III Exam
Personality Test /Interview or Skill Test, where applicable Candidates opting for different posts, It will be required to undergo Physical Endurance Test (PET)/Medical Examination at any convenient time after declaration of result of Tier I.

This Tier-3 of SSC CHSL Exam is Skill Test/Typing Test
Skill Test (DEST) Pattern | For DEO Post • It is of Qualifying nature. • Candidates should possess Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer. • They will be given printed matter in English which they have to type on the computer. • The test is for 15 minutes and candidates should have a minimum speed of 2000-2200 strokes/key-depressions in order to qualify. For DEO Post in C&AG: • Candidates should possess Data Entry Speed of 15,000 key depressions per hour on the computer. • You will be given printed matter in English which they have to type on the computer. • The test is for 15 minutes and candidates should have a minimum speed of 3700-4000 strokes/key depressions in order to qualify. |
Typing Test Pattern for LDC/JSA & PA/SA | • Typing Test will be conducted only in English or Hindi and candidates while applying for the Examination will have to indicate his/her choice/option for Typing Test Medium in the Application Form. • Candidates opting for English medium should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute and those opting for Hindi medium should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute corresponds to 10500 key depressions per hour and 30 wpm corresponds to 9000 key depressions per hour respectively. • The speed will be adjudged on the accuracy of typing on the computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes. |
